Based on a 1926 play by Chicago Tribune reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago is set in razzle dazzle, roaring twenties Chicago. After married chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover, Roxie and another murderess on death row, Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, hoping the publicity will catapult them to fame, freedom and successful stage careers. A dark parable of American justice, Chicago is a sexy musical extravaganza that includes several show-stopping numbers such as “All That Jazz,” “Razzle Dazzle” and “Class.”
