It will never be easy, but it will be a lot of fun. The MTI family is an elite crew. We come from all walks of life, all skill levels and every imaginable background. Come join us and change your life!!!

  1. Auditions for all Season 2018 shows will be held from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2017 and 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Saturday, November 11, 2017. Auditions will be held at the Nampa Civic Center.
  2. Prospective auditioners must sign up for an audition time by filling out the on-line registration form linked to at the bottom of this page.
  3. As part of the registration process, you will be given the opportunity to indicate the number of shows you are willing to be cast in, and whether or not you are willing to do back-to-back shows. You will also be able to indicate which shows you are interested in by ranking them in priority order, and what shows you are not available for. The more shows you are available for, the more likely you will be to be cast. It is critical that you accurately indicate your availability and preferences on the form, as the on-line database will be the only source used for this information while we are casting.
  4. You will then be given a list of the roles in the shows you are available for which match your age and gender. You will be given the opportunity to indicate which roles you are particularly interested in. We reserve the right to cast you in whatever role we feel best meets the needs of the production, but your preferences will be taken into consideration.
  5. Each audition session will be 30 minutes in length, with 6 people in each session.
  6. For Season 2018, you must be 7 years old or older by the beginning of 2018, or a previous company member in order to audition.
  7. All those auditioning should prepare to present one excerpt of music from a Broadway musical with the length not to exceed 2 minutes. The piece chosen should show off the vocalist’s talents and vocal ranges. Vocalists should bring their own sheet music. Accompanists will be provided, but auditioners are welcome to bring their own accompanist. No CDs or tapes will be allowed. Vocalists who show up unprepared will be turned away.
  8. A fee based audition preparation service is available through the MTI. This service includes assistance in selecting audition music, preparation of that music and encouragement and coaching up to auditions. Call the MTI office at 468-2385 to inquire about this service. This assistance is offered as a service and is in no way required in order to be cast.
  9. Vocalists are encouraged to perform musical numbers from shows in our Season 2018 lineup.
  10. The MTI will have sheet music for all of the musicals in the 2018 season. If you sing a song from the 2018 line up then you must sing it in the original key, with the sheet music from the scores. MTI does not provide sheet music for any songs that do not come from shows in the 2018 season, but we can give you ideas on where you might locate music. Those who participate in the audition preparation classes will have the choice of using music provided by the instructors, or bringing their own music.
  11. There will be no special session for children this year. Children should register for any convenient session. Parents will be allowed in the audition room during their child’s session.
  12. Each performer MUST upload a current photo of themself to their audition registration. If you do not upload a picture, you will have one taken at the time of the audition.
  13. Plan to arrive 30 minutes before the start of your session in order to fill out any required paperwork.
  14. There will be no cost to audition, but free will donations will be accepted to help defray the room rental costs.
  15. Call-backs and dance auditions will be announced on Monday November 13, 2017. The time and location of the call-backs and dance auditions will be announced at that time (Approximately one week after the first auditions). Those who need to attend call-backs will be contacted via e-mail. Please pay close attention to your e-mails and texts that day, and be prepared to attend call-backs if requested. If you are called back but cannot attend, you will not be considered for a lead or supporting role. Not being called back does not indicate that you will not be cast.
  16. No roles in 2018 are “pre-cast.” That means that every role is open and available on the day of auditions. Dream big. Go for the roles you want.
  17. Roles at the top level of the MTI (leads) are very competitive. First year participants are 100% as likely to get a lead role as an MTI veteran. The best person for the role gets the role, regardless of how many years they have been in the company.
  18. The MTI audition process, and participation in the company is much like an athletic event. Sportsmanship is required and expected. We do not promote a star system and one show’s “star” might be the next show’s ensemble member. Even at auditions we remain supportive and kind to others in the process. We have never had an audition (in 21 years!) that wasn’t a very positive, learning and caring process.

Be sure to read all instructions carefully as you complete the registration process!

If you have auditioned with MTI at any time from Season 2012 on, you should already be in our database. If so, please do not create a new account for yourself! If you do not remember your user id (e-mail address), please send an e-mail to webmaster@mtionline.org and we will look it up for you, and change it if necessary. If you have forgotten your password, use the link on the log-in page to request a password reset.
